Indigi day out

We spent the best part of Saturday at the Redlands Shire Council’s Indigiscapes – an indigenous plant botanical garden and information centre. The Indigi day out is a two day festival complete with free rock climbing wall, face painting, meet and greet with native animals, displays and information booths on native wildlife conservation and care, cheap indigenous plants for sale (and some giveaways), a folk music festival and ….Morris Dancers.

It was free, small, casual and not extremely busy. It was also sunny and cool – in other words a very pleasant day.

; A Tawny Frogmouth – not an owl or bird of prey, despite the fierce looking beak.

a shy, sleepy sugarglider

A scribbly gum; the scribbles on the trunk are made by moth larvae.

We finished the day out with a stroll through the bush surrounds, and came home with more plant ideas for the garden, and Matt madly updating his tree spreadsheet.

  1. It sounds like a great day out Paula.
Don’t you just love the marks on the scribbly gum.

  3. Sounds like a real good time and Morris Men!! I love ‘em wish I’d been there. I’m the only one in my family who likes them but then I do like folk etc.. I confess, I did try to join a Morris Women group once, but after one session I realised I wanted to live a bit longer and not die of a massive heart attack. Some exercise can be over the top in my opinion. You wouldn’t believe how fit you have to be to Morris Dance!

  6. You’ve certainly put some work into your new blog, looks great!!. Can I ask if you have planted all these fruit trees you have listed here?? You will have a little paradise when there all established and bearing fruit, might have to pay you a visit one year on our way up north ;) Your over the hump re school holidays, NSW have just begun and I’m loving it as have no school age kids AND get to be on holiday.
